Mindful in Nature

Besides being a forager, herbalist and craftswoman, I am also a qualified mindfulness trainer.
For me, this makes perfectly sense – because the very practice of meditation helps me to fully experience nature. To let go of the preoccupation with all the lists in my head and thus allow to emerge myself in everything I see, hear, smell, taste.

Science supports my experience: being in the moment in nature does you incredible good. This is why the Japanese workforce has set up a whole industry around ‘forest bathing’ (Shinrin Yoku) in the last decades.
Some of those benefits derived from science – based on ‘being’ in nature for at least 2 hours – are:

It lowers your blood pressure, lowers blood sugar level, promotes sleep
It also lowers your feelings of stress, works uplifting for depression & increases your resistance
It even improves your concentration and memory

And on top of that…  these effects last up to 3 months!

Natural inspiration

Being mindful in nature for a while makes you look at it differently. Experiencing it differently. It comes closer, allowing you to make your own connection. That helps you feel part of this world, and of your place in it.
There is so much to see, hear and feel in nature. So much that stimulates your curiosity, amazes or surprises you, that your mind almost automatically calms down and pays attention to the moment. This makes it easier for most people to be ‘mindful’ (lower entry level, in other words).
That’s why I lovingly combine mindfulness with nature. Because it can offer you so much!

This day is for anyone who is (too much) under tension, is running beyond themselves, is stuck, wants to get to know their self a little better or wants insight into choices. Nature gives you the space to recover from the past, a breather in the middle of the year.

This day is for you. A day to be with yourself. To listen to what is going on inside you, what needs attention.
A day in the beautiful nature of the Waterleidingduinen, where you can fully enjoy nature through the silence in you and around you. I guide you with meditations in combination with gentle yoga and simply allow you to be in nature. A day like this will bring you back into balance, it will strengthen your foundation and choices will become clear. This allows you to move on with renewed energy.

The Waterleidingduinen (Water Supply Dunes) are a beautiful area where you can wander freely among the sand dunes, grass, woods and heathland. With lots of animals – deer, foxes, rabbits and birds of prey. A great place to really disconnect from everything in your daily life, and surrender to the moment for a day.

Wonder Walks

Blow out, unwind, feeling free and amazed?
Then join me outside on a Wonder Walk!
Discover how beautiful nature in and around Amsterdam can be.
I take you to special greenness. Not far away, but surprisingly nearby…. To birds, butterflies and maybe foxes. To birds of prey circling, to trees, flowers, animal tracks and plants you can eat. And to the moment.

The walks build on the knowledge & experience from Mindfulness, Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing), Forest Therapy & Nature Connection.
This creates a nature experience that stimulates your senses, awakens your curiosity and makes you see the world in and around Amsterdam differently.
Each time will be slightly different. Depending on the weather, the place and the group.
So give yourself a reset and join us outside. Mobile off, senses on.

Come along and wander from dusk till dawn, on an adventure together without paths. Sometimes walking, sometimes sitting, sometimes standing, eating, being…

A day when nothing is required, when you set off with me as the sun begins its journey. You hand in your phone, your watch. Away from time for a moment, away from the world that always wants something from you. Here you are. In the dunes, in the sand or under trees. We go where the wind blows, following the dream paths of each of us. Without you having to keep track of where we’re going – I’ll look after the group. Time for yourself interspersed with a suggestion, an exercise that deepens your experience. We eat when the group feels like it.

Until the end of the day, when the sun sets and I lead you back into the world through the gate… It’s up to you what you pick up again from everything you left behind…
